Maria Khan

MARIA-KIRAN was born in December 1981 at Allahabad, India, she moved to France at

age of three and at the age of six started her training in Bharata-Natyam at Mandapa
Center first with Kamadev and later with Vidya (disciple of K.M.K Saroja). She also
practices Western classical Ballet at the Conservatoire of the 13th Ward where she
presented a performance of Bharata Natyam in 1994 under the frame of "Young
Talents", and also in other Cultural Centres and Youth Festivals organised by the City
of Paris.
In 1996, she had her Arangetram at Chidambaram temple in South of India under the
guidance of Smt M.K. Saroja and gave regular performances in India (TV, Theatres,
Temples and Alliances Françaises). From 1997 onwards, she uderwent higher training
in Bharata natyam under the guidance of Yamini Krishnamurthi and, since 1999, on the
art of abhinaya (dramatic expression) with Jamuna Krishnan who is the leading
orchestra member for all her performances in Europe as well as in India. From 1997
onwards, she pursues an international carrier and performs in different cities of Europe.
She is the youngest artist invited by the Theatre de la Ville in Paris to perform Bharata
Natyam in 2003.
